Choose the right kind of help.
Before booking, decide whether you need someone to investigate the problem or quote for a specific intervention.
When you need an assessment
If the path is uncertain, previous attempts failed, or a substantial project is being considered, ask an acoustic consultant what an assessment would establish before buying more products.
- Do you assess residential noise like mine, including the type and timing I describe?
- What inspection or measurement is included, and what could remain uncertain?
- Will I receive a written explanation of likely paths, options and limitations?
- Do you sell or receive referrals for the treatments you recommend?
- What is the complete fee, and what follow-up is included?
This is a preparation checklist, not an engineering diagnosis or a promise that an assessment will identify a simple fix.
When you need an installation quote
If checks already point to a window and you are permitted to change it, ask suppliers to describe the proposed assembly and installation in writing. A sales quote is not automatically an independent assessment.
- Which existing parts stay, and which are altered?
- Who measures, fits and checks the finished work?
- What evidence applies to this exact product and proposed setup?
- How will opening, cleaning, required airflow and emergency escape be preserved?
- What happens if there are fit problems, installation defects or disappointing results?
Never seal or block a required vent. Ask a qualified professional about any proposed alteration affecting ventilation or safety.
Compare two quotesIf you rent
Start with your landlord or building manager before arranging alterations. You can prepare observations without assigning blame or promising that the neighbour will cooperate. See renter options and upstairs-noise guidance.
About provider listings
We do not yet maintain a verified local contractor directory or offer a booking service. The window supplier examples link directly to manufacturers; confirm service coverage and installation arrangements with them.
Use our evidence policy to distinguish a supplier description, a test report and an independent assessment. Back to all next steps.
